It's been a month since I did my big chop! I did the big chop on August 19th, and some things have changed. I trimmed my entire head so it could be even, now I think it's back at the length it was when I first chopped it. So it's growing pretty well.

I changed up my regimen a little. I am no longer using the jojoba oil, because I was using the wrong jojoba oil. It was in a jar, and it just felt like hair grease on my hair. Even when I washed my hair I still felt it on there. Now I spritz my hair every morning then rub EVOO on there and I'm good to go for 2 days with that. Then I co-wash every 2 days, and deep condition every week 1/2

I'm still loving my hair, and can't wait until it grows so I can try some stylesKristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08149086104140229090noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833251507750995760.post-7007908547330746252010-09-03T00:57:00.000-07:002010-09-03T00:57:36.959-07:00No more transitioning!I cut off the rest of my relaxed hair tonight. I had some relaxed hair on the front of my hair, and said "to hell with it" and chopped it off. Then I gave myself a trim all over my head, now I have a head full of natural hair :D

I am so happy with my hair right now. I love my twa, and can''t wait until it gets longer and I can try some new styles on it. I guess I can practice on my daughters hair until then lol
She has beautiful curls, and it's fun to try different styles on it. Most of the time I just let her wear it out. But I love a single pony tails, pig tails, several pony tails, and I've even done a couple of buns.

Alyssa and Haley have completely different textures of hair. Haley has mine, and Alyssa has her dads. So it's a learning experiment trying to figure out what works best for both of them. Here are pictures of Alyssa's hair. Beware of cuteness :)
I must say for a first try, I think I did ok. Next time I will do the front a little tighter because her bangs are short, and didn't want to stay in the twists. I love how the back came out, and she loves her hair too. I think we will do twist outs once a week, because it will help her hair and give her a break from being in pony tails.

It only took me an hour to do, because her hair is so thick. I don't think that was too bad. I've read that for some women it can take all day, so I was surprised when it only took an hour. Here's some pictures of her hair.
When I first went natural, I'll admit I wasn't very secure about my hair. I was worried about the stares, the questions, and how I would be perceived. Luckily I didn't get too much of that. I remember getting asked by a co worker, if I was "sick" She said it so uncomfortably, like she knew she shouldn't have asked.

I told her "no, I just decided to start wearing my natural hair." Besides that I didn't get any other questions. This time around I'm a lot better about my hair. I'm more confident, I hold my head up, and I'm not afraid to walk out the door. For some reason, I thought I would revert back to my old self, and be scared. But I wasn't, I had this freeing feeling when I saw my twa.

Now I always find myself looking at numerous youtube videos, natural hair blogs, tweets everything I can think of. Trying to figure out what I can do to keep my hair natural, but most importantly, healthy.

It's going to take a lot of work, and patience, but I am looking forward to it. This is a journey that I don't mind taking.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08149086104140229090noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833251507750995760.post-7960205819814372792010-08-26T20:47:00.000-07:002010-08-26T20:47:07.731-07:00How I do my hairI did a video showing you how I do my hair every morning. Now that I am committed to staying natural, I want to learn as much as I possibly can about being natural, and having healthy natural hair.

This past Monday I deep conditioned my hair. I poured some EVOO on my hands, and rubbed it all over my hair. Then I pour some honey in my hands and rubbed it all over my hair. I then put a shower cap on, and killed time for 2 hours. After 2 hours I took a shower, and washed my hair with V05 Tea Therapy conditioner.

After my shower, my hair was so soft. I put some Jojoba oil on and went about my day. Now why do I put those particular products on my hair. EVOO adds moisture and honey is a humecent so it holds the moisture in.

Deep conditioning is an important part of having healthy natural hair. Some women DC once a week, multiple times a week, or twice a month. It's all up to you, and how often you want to do it. I will most likely DC once a week. But that might change as my hair grows.

What is your DC regimen and how often do you DC?Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08149086104140229090noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833251507750995760.post-55640458901913058872010-08-25T01:28:00.000-07:002010-08-25T01:28:49.139-07:00Natural Hair InsperationsHere are a few natural hair inspirations that I have, enjoy :)
I did my big chop on the top of my head on August 17th. I still have some transitioning to do, but I'm excited to go on this natural journey.

I bought some V05 Tea Therapy conditioner for my hair, and so far my hair loves it. I deep conditioned my hair yesterday with honey and EVOO and my hair is so soft. Then I topped it off with some Jojoba oil. So far this regimen works for me. I'm sure it will change as my hair changes and grows. I can't wait to learn more about my hair

I have a fotki page that has pictures of my hair. You can see it here, and a youtube channel where I will be vlogging about my hair, you can see it here.Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08149086104140229090noreply@blogger.com0
