Why I decided to go natural

This is not the first time I decided to go natural. Back in 2006 I did a big chop to my hair, and was natural for 10 months. All of a sudden I found myself putting a relaxer back on my hair. Over the years I have had a love/hate relationship with relaxers, hot combs, flat irons, dyes ect.

I had been thinking about going natural again for quite sometime, but was hesitant. Why? I don't know. I did it before why was I so afraid to do it again? Early July was the last time I had any heat or a relaxer on my head. After that last time I had enough. I didn't want to go through the hassle anymore. Trying to remember when my last relaxer was, not being able to go swimming, worrying about messing up my relaxed hair because of rain or humidity. It was just too much.

So this past week (August 16th) I decided to do a big chop to the front of my hair. My hair was already pretty short. I had a Rihanna style haircut The back of my hair was very short, but the front was longer, so I didn't cut the back too much. There's still some transitioning to be done, mainly to the front. But I am just going to be patient. I plan to transition for 10-12 months, then cutting the relaxed ends off. I may not have to go that long.

Another reason I decided to go natural is because I have a toddler who is pretty needy right now. When I would do my relaxed hair it would take me twice as long because she would need to be changed, fed, wanted to play. I just got tired of it. Now with my natural hair I can do my hair in 5 minutes or less.

I can't wait to go on this journey and share it with you all.
